Blog Move Update

So far so good! The only sections not finished are the live archive   & the discography. Those will be up by the end of the week. Some posts/pages may not look right, I’m in the process of fixing that.

Everything from blogspot has been transferred. Whilst the live section is still to be finished, you can find what you are looking for using the new search function on the right.

Otherwise the blog carries on as normal, not that I expect much Doves news over the coming weeks or months!! Though Echoes In The Alleyway is moving on at a fast pace, looking forward to bringing that to you all.

Live At Eden Review

Got my copy today. After what was said on the Doves Fourm I was expecting a dogs dinner to be honest.

Not at all. Comes in a nice glossy digipack. It was clearly stated before hand we were buying CDRs, so that comes as no surprise.

CDs are definitely not burnt mp3s. Though yes I have that awful Greatest Denier fade out, so I will request a new CD.

Otherwise, glad I bought a copy. As I said after the May tour, they should release a live album to document the band playing better live now than ever before. So if you enjoy Doves live, get yourself a copy.

New Home!

Welcome to the new home for Doves Music Blog. As you can tell there is allot of work to be done.   All should be back to normal within the week, so please bear with me. Nothing will be lost, all the archives from blogspot can and will be transferred. All the regular features/apps will return over the coming days.

You can still visit the old blog here.

For those of you who emailed/commented via the old blog about issues with the Live at Eden CD/download. Please see this post at Doves forum, that should answer your questions.

Blog Upgrade

Don’t be alarmed if the blog goes down over the next few days. I’m in the process of moving the blog over to WordPress. DMB has outgrown blogger so it is time for a new home. Nothing from the last year or so will be lost, though the menu pages may not be available at first. May take a week or so once the change over happens to get back to normal.

EDIT: If www.dovesmusicblog.com goes down, the blog can still be access HERE this is until I’m able to action the change over. dovesmusicblog.com is going nowhere.

I’m playing around with the WP theme, which you can view at this temp url.

You can also view the new Echoes In The Alleyway site here.

This is what happens when its too hot to do anything outdoors!

More Eden

Thanks to Adam for the above atmospheric picture from Eden. Another review of the Eden show, this time from never enough notes who seemed to enjoy the show abit more than the this is Cornwall reviewer did..

Doves have some hard work to do: When the gig was announced Mumford & Sons were still emerging and Doves, with their solid following and previous storming set at the Eden Sessions in 2002, were a steadfast finishing band. And although the crowd is still up for it when they take the stage, it is clear that many are Doves virgins.

The band grab the audience well to start; Jimi Goodwin’s memorable voice and the moody and atmospheric music is the perfect soundtrack for the sun setting over the stunning Eden Project scenery. The band have worked hard on this ‘greatest hits’ tour and put on a good show with dramatic visuals including some interesting videos, my favourite being the ‘hoodies’ filmed for Black and White Town. The band relies heavily on the crowd being right there with them and affectionately coining the audience ‘Edeonions’, Goodwin manages to gain friends in most of them, especially when he offers to pay any council fines if the sound techs cranked up the volume.

Check out the official Eden Sessions blog here, for a short review of Doves set & pictures.

A few of you have wrote in asking about the status of the Eden download. Latest from the Doves Live Store..

We are expecting final approval from the band very shortly, as soon as we have it we will ship the CD’s and downloads.

Finally, work has started on the Echoes In The Alleyway microsite. Expect a full launch sometime late August ready for the album to be made available at the site early October. I have already received 9 tracks for the album so far, the quality is fantastic. Some really talented artists involved. I’m sure you will enjoy their take on some of your favourite Doves tunes. Tracks not dared to be covered yet include.. The Fear, Pounding & Words.

Modern Roadie

Abit of a blast from the past, but some of you may recall a Doves keyboard roadie kept a wee blog going during the tours in 2005. Anyhow I came across it again today, good to see its still up. Some interesting reading especially if you saw some of the shows that year. Shame the photos are no longer up. Give it a read..
