Happy New Year to you all. Thank you for all the messages via email, twitter, facebook etc over the Christmas break.
Later this week I will be adding to the guitar tabs section to include all of The Last Broadcast. For now, one of my favourite remixes from the Last Broadcast by Magnet ..
Its that time of year again! It has been another busy year for the blog. We got a Best of ‘The Places Between’ with new songs including the studio version of Blue Water. A ton of live shows then of course the Live at Eden album.
We finished the year off with the first Doves tribute album Echoes in the Alleyway with all the proceeds going to the Teenage Cancer Trust. So far the project has raised £800.64! So a big thank you to all involved and to everyone who has donated. Will attempt to tip it over the £1000 mark in the new year.
The highlight for me personally was obviously seeing Doves live back home in the UK. The Glasgow Academy show especially will live long in the memory.
So a big thank you to Doves for another memorable year! Also a big thank you to all of you who contributed to keeping the blog up to date with setlists, links etc. Without it all the blog would be nothing so thank you!
Not sure what to expect next year. A few dates in Australia for Doves in February, after that who knows? Whatever, whenever you can be sure to read about it on here.
Merry Christmas to you all, eat lots, be merry and be safe.
Not much going on besides those usual predictable end of year lists. One band missed off most lists Cherry Ghost announced some unique dates this week for next March. The one at Manchester Cathedral sticks out obviously. Though that probably nixes any chance of another 2010 favourite of ours Holy Fuck getting the support slot!
We still have the ‘your favourite Doves album?’ poll taking votes, on the right below the links. Results as they stand right now:
No not that one! BBC 6 Music has Richard Hawley hosting an alternative to the Queens speech on Christmas day. The show features Jimi Goodwin as well as the likes of Guy Garvey & Billy Bragg among others. Show starts at 1pm thro til 4pm.
As the snow begins to fall here in Chicago. I know you folks back home in the UK have been pounded for awhile. Take care and stay warm! No video, just a cracking Low cover as recorded last year.
With thanks to Nick Yates aka Substance, we have added Lost Souls to the Tablature section of the blog. Nick is currently working his way through Doves catalogue, we previously brought to you the Best Of tabs.
The tabs are designed to be played on a guitar and may not be the exact way doves play the songs, but are Nick’s interpretation of them. We invite you to submit any corrections where necessary.
First off, Happy Thanksgiving to all American readers! Enjoy your turkey and apple pie!
With many thanks to Nick Yates, we now have a Doves guitar tab section. Starting off with The Places Between: The Best Of Doves. We plan on working through each album, this will eventually take the place of the lyrics section.
I have also revamped the the entire discography. It is not meant to be a complete Doves discography. Instead as well as the usual albums/singles entries, I have featured releases that has Doves music not found anywhere else. Suggestions and corrections are most welcome!
