02 Academy Glasgow

Once again Glasgow did not disappoint. Of the four shows I caught on the tour, this was by far the best of the lot. Up their with one of the best Doves shows I’ve seen. Both band and crowd were brilliant. An unscheduled performance of Spaceface topped the night off. Cherry Ghost earlier opened playing all new songs to an appreciative audience.

SPACEFACE

Leicester De Monfort Hall

Doves mixed up the set from the previous night in Hull, M62 & Valley having not been played live since 2002. The crowd did not seem up for this one, unlike Hull the previous night, a shame as this is a lovely venue.

Leicester Tonight

Tonight Doves are performing tonight in Leicester at the awesome De Montfort Hall. Its a misserable day here in Leicester, it should be a good night regardless. Expect a spoiler free update on the show afterwards. Once again those of you attending have a great night.

Set times approx.. last night Cherry Ghost came on 8pm. Doves were on at 9pm. Last night Cherry ghost confirmed the release date for the new album out July 5th. You can now download a track from the album for free at Cherry Ghost’s official website.

Doves opened the Best Of UK tour with an excellent show at the grand City Hall in Hull. Push Me On was performed live for the first time. Other surprises included rare live outings for 11 Miles Out and Catch The Sun.

The Delays For Folkestone

As we previously reported Cherry Ghost will be supporting all of the dates on the UK tour except for Folkestone. Cherry Ghost will also provide the support for the Thretford Forest gig on June 12th.

Edit: Actually this is not the case! Ticket sites reporting this are doing so in error.

The Delays will provide the support for the Folkestone gig. Nice! I really enjoyed their first two albums, Faded Seaside Glamour is a great listen.

Tour Support

Just an updated line about the UK tour support. Cherry Ghost will support all the UK shows apart from Folkestone. Cherry Ghost will also play their own show at the Korova in Liverpool May 7th. Get your tickets here.

Cherry Ghost For UK Tour

Some good news today! Its been confirmed Cherry Ghost will be supporting doves on the UK tour in April/May. Cherry Ghost who have a new album in the pipeline due sometime in the summer are fantastic live, this is welcomed news as far I’m concerned. Well worth checking out if you are seeing a show.

Check out Cherry Ghost at MySpace.

Cherry Ghost Covering Doves

Old school but very cool all the same. Whilst we wait for some new doves material, do check out new Cherry Ghost at their myspace page for new tunes. Beneath This Burning Shoreline is particularly good.

Not a whole lot going on..

As you probably guessed, not a great deal going on in doves world. I have been enjoying the Delphic record. Great news for those of us at the wrong side of the pond, Delphic have been anounced to play Coachella so here’s hoping for a few more shows stateside.

Doves are mentioned in today’s Guardian write up on Delphic and other new Manchester based bands. Hope to catch Delphic (doves would be nice too….) at this year’s Lollapalooza festival here in Chicago.

Cherry Ghost have also put up some new tunes in unmixed form up on the myspace page. Black Fang sounded great live last year, could be a single I reckon?

I see Hooky is opening up a new club in Manchester. FAC251 opens up next month. I wonder what the chances of a doves gig there? Spaceface opener! Would make allot of sense with the history and all. But just pure speculation on my part!!

Cherry Ghost News

Woke up to some good news today, via the latest Cherry Ghost MySpace blog posting. Simon Aldred says the album was finished (recording at doves barn) Christmas eve and predicts a May/June 2010 release.
