Andy & Jez Williams aka Black Rivers started life in their new band earlier this evening with the debut live performance in Manchester. Kicking off with the instant fan favourite The Ship, the band went to play five further new tracks. No Doves material was played.

Lisa Gray of the Manchester Evening News was there, read her favourable review here. The band move onto Liverpool tomorrow (Friday) night.

A busy day of activity for Jez & Andy’s new band. Here’s what we know:

The Manchester Evening News did a great write up here, with comments from both Andy & Jez. The article states the album is slated for release early next year, February according to Jez on a XFM interview he did early this evening. With a single due out Sept/Oct time. Cheers to Jess for the info!

Their debut live performance will be next Thursday at Gullivers in Manchester supporting Neon Waltz. Tickets link below. They follow that with another support slot for Neon Waltz in Liverpool Friday. Before playing at Kendal Calling on Saturday.

Keep yer eye on Doves social media tomorrow for a big news announcement. Hint: Jimi’s busy with his own stuff, so that leaves..

Its fest season of course, Jimi has a ton lined up. For the latest on where he is playing, keep tabs on his official website. He has also just announced a show at the fantastic Holmfirth Picturedrome. That has got to be one of the best venues around, not to be missed! You lucky buggers in the UK.

I know its all been very quiet on the Jez & Andy front, but I’m told it wont be long now!

May I nudge you towards one of my favourite records of 2014 so far, its by Finland’s Siinai. They came onto the scene back in 2011 with the quite brilliant debut Olympic Games. They have followed that up with the phenomenal second lp Supermarket. Check it out… you wont be disappointed I promise!

The rather late Glasto report! Apologies for that, call it an act of god or whatever.. the panic tree paid DMB hq a visit this past weekend. Anyhow.. Jimi performed at Glasto last Friday. Forum regular Gibbo was in attendance, so a big thanks to him for these snaps..

As you probably know by now Jimi’s set was cut short by a electrical storm. However Jimi did come back out to do one more number…

The TV broadcast is still available to watch via the beeb iPlayer. A cracking watch, nice to see how the band have evolved since the last time I saw them at the 6 music fest.

In other news Jimi’s second single Live Like A River is out now on 12″ vinyl & digital download. Get the vinyl at yer proper record shop (I know  piccadilly have it) or from Heavenly Records. The Heavenly purchase gives you access to a free download of the digital bundle which features a bonus Oh! Whiskey remix.

Jimi’s second single will be Live Like A River. It drops June 30th as a 12″ remix release. A digital package accompanies the release, available at the Heavenly store. Its currently available at itunes now.
