Leeds Tickets Now Available

The Leeds Academy gig that is rescheuled for next Friday, had previously been billed as sold out. The tickets that were returned by people who are not able to make the new date, are now available at seetickets. Get them whilst you can!

Doves Concert Attendee Has Swine Flu

The BBC has reported that the Scottish Government has named a Doves fan as a victim of the ongoing swine flu epidemic.

Iain Askham of Polmont, near Falkirk, attended the Doves concert at the Edinburgh Picture House on April 23rd, two days after returning from his honeymoon in Mexico.

Extras Needed For ‘Winter Hill’ Video

Doves have posted a request for video extras, via their MySpace page:

EXTRAS NEEDED!

Are you between 18-25 and want to be in a Dove’s Music Video?
Pulse Films are shooting a Music video in Central London.
Potential hours of shooting will be between 5pm Thursday 7th May to 5am the following morning.

The premise of the video involves a night time chase throughout the streets of London.

You need to be reasonably fit, as there will a fair bit of running around.
Please contact production by email on dove75@googlemail.com and please attach a recent photograph, we will contact you with the details for location and time to be there.

There is no fee, but we will supply food and refreshments throughout the night.

Doves’ management have cryptically linked to this YouTube video, in relation to the request, via the band’s official message board.

North America Tour Support

Just in: Supporting doves on the North American tour will be Wild Light. A four piece indie pop group from New Hampshire. They have recently supported The Killers on tour.

This is Nottingham Interview

This is Nottingham interviewed Jez, ahead of the band’s gig at Rock City next tuesday.

The lyrics are quite impressionistic, aren’t they?

We’ve always liked songs that are ambiguous. In fact, we hate pinpointing what they’re about. Some are obvious, like 10:03 and Jetstream. But there are others where we wanna keep it ambiguous, so the listener can put their own version of the story on them.

Anyone’s point of view is just as valid as ours. We might be coming at it from a different angle than what the listener might interpret it as, but that’s cool. That’s what good songs do.

The Month That Was!

April was quite the month for doves and the blog. It probably wont get any busier than that. But plenty still to come in doves world. The UK tour finishes up next week. The band then perform at Radio One’s Big weekend a week on Saturday. After that its the small matter of the US tour, starting in San Diego on the 14th. The tour takes us into June, when the festival season starts up and then there is a new single in Winter Hill to look forward to. I shall be at the shows in Minneapolis, Chicago & Detroit. To say I’m excited for the shows is an understatement!!

Here’s to what should be another cracking month.
