Chicago: Thank You Doves Band!

Doves played to a sold out crowd at the Vic Theatre in Chicago this past Friday. I wasn’t sure how the Chicago crowd would be. I shouldn’t have worried. The crowd were simply amazing. Apparently it was the best show on the US tour so far. I’ve seen the band too many times to admit on here, but the show definitely is up there with the best.

Those that were there, know the band wished this writer a Happy Birthday, and they also gave a big shout out to the blog as well. Check out the video, thank you Diegovid for capturing this!

So thank you doves band for the most amazing Birthday ever.

Toronto-lifestyle magazine, Now Toronto, has uploaded audio of a telephone interview with Jimi, recorded May 15th (the anniversary of Rob Gretton’s death).

“The man was basically a philanthropist,” remembers bassist Jimi Goodwin. “He bankrolled us and gave us a second chance as Doves. Without him, I don’t know where we’d be.”

Minneapolis Varsity Theater – Review & Photos

I’m a tad late with this, mainly due to the recent sunshine across most of Britain over the weekend. Like Doves say, “Catch the sun, before it’s gone”…

Music-blog, Culture Bully, has an amazing review (and pictures) of last Thursday’s show at the Varsity Theater in Minneapolis. The Twin Cities Decider also has a few photos of Doves, along with support act, Wild Light.

Andy Talks Freely

Whilst on the road in Seattle, Doves drummer Andy Williams gave a phone interview to the Detroit Free Press, and had great things to say about the band’s U.S. fanbase…

Detroit Free Press

“We get reviews saying ‘This band should be much bigger than it is. They should be playing stadiums,’ ” Williams says. “But the people who get this band really get it.”

“We’ve had people flying in from New York, and others trailing us down the West Coast, spending a lot of money and travel time to follow the band around. To have people willing to do that, especially in this economy, makes us feel incredibly lucky.”
