An energetic performance of The Cedar Room at the London Astoria back in 2001 I believe. Correct me if I’m wrong they were on the same bill as JJ72? Remember them? Video is cut short, though they did a good job with the editing.
The Rock AM Ring fest performance from 2002, played to a really enthusiastic German crowd! This one is missing Cedar Room which also got aired later on MTV2.
Jimi sits in for Guy Garvey on 6 Music this coming Sunday from 10pm. You can listen live online wherever you are in the world or you can replay using the iplayer for 7 days after the broadcast.
A few US based Doves fans have been caught out by the popular facebook app bandsintown, who lists Doves to be playing the US this month. I can assure you Doves are not playing anywhere, its Hawkes & Doves! I suspect its all automated, though I have dropped them a note to see if they can sort it out.
Doves appeared on last night’s edition of Top of the Pops 2. If you missed it, catch them on the iplayer here. Fast foward to about 36.30 if you want to bypass Steve Winwood et al, thanks to Substance for the info.
First off a big congrats to Man City on deservedly winning the Premier League. Good to see Andy Williams joining in with the celebrations, you may need to click the photo above to see it better. Thanks to Paul Bingley for alerting us to that!
Tribute band Sub Doves will be playing their first gig in Manchester July 21st at the Ruby Lounge. Tickets cost £6 and can be bought online here. If any of you are going along and fancy doing a wee report for the blog, drop me an email.
Thanks to those of you who sent in stuff for the Last Broadcast at Ten. You can view the page here. Where has the 10 years gone?!
Thanks for all the emails asking the status of the blog and Doves themselves. For the blog there is no concern I just update when there is something worth updating you know? I’m still doing my album a day challenge, that part of the blog gets updated daily. As For Doves, still working on solo projects last I heard. As soon as stuff happens the blog will kick back into action!
The forum is still alive and well, and is a good place to hear any rumours and what not.
Why not check out the debut album by Alabama Shakes, its brilliant!

The Last Broadcast celebrates 10 years today! The page I promised will be going up later this week, having just returned from a trip home I haven’t had much of a chance to finish the project. Thanks to all your submissions!
Not a great deal going on obviously. You may recall last year Jimi sat in for Guy Garvey on 6 music, he played a great mash up by Under Dubwood the words of Dylan Thomas, the voice of Richard Burton and the studio sounds of KingTubby. The mash up got released this week on Rivertones the label by the folks behind Caught By the River, its a mash up that Jimi raved about at the time, and is well worth checking it out.
Its the label’s debut 7″, the flipside River Theme is a Time and Space Machine reconstruction that brings wigged out garage rock to the bankside.
Listen to the tracks on Soundcloud here, if you like why not grab it from the Caught By the River shop.
The video above was taken at Jimi’s appearance at last year’s other Voices Festival in Dingle Ireland. You can watch the entire episode of Other Voices using the RTE player here. The video will be available until April 4th. Fast forward 19 mins to hear Jimi perform his new track Panic Tree. Straight after is an interview with Jimi & Simon Aldred of Cherry Ghost. Jimi then performs with Cherry Ghost on Simon Aldred’s pre Cherry Ghost track The Fragile Reign. Surely a track that needs to see light of day on a record sometime soon? Later on Cherry Ghost perform a lovely acoustic version of their brilliant single Mathematics.
ps – The Mule Boom version of Fragile Reign can be purchased at amazon uk here.
