Independent music website Flashlight have reviewed the Kingdom Of Rust album. A positive honest review:

Flashlight – Kingdom Of Rust

METRO

Check out doves.net for the first part of an interview with Andy & Jez about the tour setlist. Interesting stuff. They will also talk about the controversial omission of The Cedar Room! I’m looking forward to reading that one.

DRIP DRIP

So yes the album leaked yesterday. Its actually been on a certain site for awhile, but due to watermark issues it didn’t hit the mainstream sites until today. Hopefully those of you who have downloaded the album are enjoying it. Its a gem of an album. Don’t forget to buy your copy April 6/7 wherever you are. The artwork is beautiful.

I will post my own review sometime in April. I may be able to avoid name dropping Elbow! :)

MORE LIVE REVIEWS

Some more reviews popping up in the weekend press for the gigs last week.

Glasgow ABC

Sunday Mail Avril Adden ****

It’s four years since Doves’ last album and the sold-out ABC was full of anticipation. New songs went down well, especially powerful opener Jetstreamand anthemic The Greatest Denier.

Winter Hill wasn’t as well received as I expected but Kingdom Of Rust sounded even better live thanks to Andy Williams’ drumming.

There’s an easy chemistry between the trio as they swap vocal duties and instruments and they have honed their craft, making it look effortless.

There could be no other ending than euphoric anthem There Goes The Fear

REQUEST!

If you are in the US. Kingdom Of Rust was delivered to the radio stations last Thursday. I’ve heard several album tracks over the radio this weekend. My local NPR station has played all of the album over the course of the past couple days. So get requesting!

DOVES DAY

Friday March 27th is Doves day at NME radio. Tracks from the new album will be played all day. The band will be hosting an hour as well. That same day doves will also be performing a live session on the Steve Lamacq show. Next day doves then are performing tracks for 6music’s The Hub.

Thanks to #1 for pointing out that Doves are on the cover of Chimp Magazine. For those who can’t pick up a copy. Take a look at these scans over at flickr.

I’ve had a few people ask me about where the album can be found to download. Sorry I wont be posting any links to leaks on this blog. Yes the album is out there. But the only link I have is on the left of the page that takes you to order at amazon. If your in London, The Social will be hosting the first public hearing next Monday afternoon from 1pm. You should be able to score some doves goodies as well, whilst your there.

GLASTONBURY/REVIEWS

Doves have confirmed they are to headline the John Peel tent at this year’s Glastonbury. It will be Doves sixth appearance at Glasto. Also confirmed is Bestival over weekend Sept 11-13th.

Digital Spy have wrote a small article on Kingdom Of Rust.

LONDON FORUM

Doves finished up the warm up tour tonight in London at the HMV Forum. doves board regular Jagger was twitting the set list for his Last Broadcast website. The last Broadcast site was first launched back in 2002. The site has been relaunched just in time for another busy year ahead for doves band. Visit The Last Broadcast for the London setlist as it happened. You can also submit your review/photos/videos and anything else you have to add about the show at the site.

With the band now back into the grove playing live. Thoughts will now turn to promoting Kingdom Of Rust, as the release date draws near. Live sessions are scheduled for several BBC radio shows towards the end of next week. I will post more on those over the coming days.

The Kingdom Of Rust single is now available for pre-order. The best deal I have found so far is at Record Store. Both formats for £3.50.
