This is Nottingham Interview

This is Nottingham interviewed Jez, ahead of the band’s gig at Rock City next tuesday.

The lyrics are quite impressionistic, aren’t they?

We’ve always liked songs that are ambiguous. In fact, we hate pinpointing what they’re about. Some are obvious, like 10:03 and Jetstream. But there are others where we wanna keep it ambiguous, so the listener can put their own version of the story on them.

Anyone’s point of view is just as valid as ours. We might be coming at it from a different angle than what the listener might interpret it as, but that’s cool. That’s what good songs do.

The Month That Was!

April was quite the month for doves and the blog. It probably wont get any busier than that. But plenty still to come in doves world. The UK tour finishes up next week. The band then perform at Radio One’s Big weekend a week on Saturday. After that its the small matter of the US tour, starting in San Diego on the 14th. The tour takes us into June, when the festival season starts up and then there is a new single in Winter Hill to look forward to. I shall be at the shows in Minneapolis, Chicago & Detroit. To say I’m excited for the shows is an understatement!!

Here’s to what should be another cracking month.

Kingdom Of Rust Japanese Pressing

Just a quick note to let you know the Japanese pressing of Kingdom Of Rust is now shipping. Released on Wednesday, this version features the bonus track Push Me On the original mix. Its very expensive as with all Japanese imports. Though some of doves best releases over the past decade have come from Japan.

Don’t forget to vote on the Kingdom Of Rust poll. You are allowed one vote per day. My original choice of 10.03, has since changed to Compulsion. Multiple votes are welcome, so don’t worry if you change your mind a few days later.

Jo Whiley’s Live Lounge

Doves will be playing a live session on Jo Whiley’s live lounge next Thursday, May 7th at 10am. The live session is a bit of promo in anticiptation for doves performance at Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Swindon the following Saturday. With a bit of luck, we shall have doves performance at the Big Weekend here on doves music blog.

Firesuite In Sheffield

The band played the regular set, last night in Sheffield. Though Firesuite was played instead of Northenden. I believe this to be the first performance of Firesuite this year. Hopefully the first of many.

Thanks to Mike Short for the info!

10.03 Live at Maida Vale

Doves stuck around at those Radio One Maida Vale sessions last month, to record one last track, for Colin Murray. This was broadcast on Monday night.

Once again, a big thank you to Jimi’s Beard for providing this excellent mp3 of the live track that was aired. Cheers mate!
