I don’t usually tend to believe the hype that goes with an album release, even with previous doves records. But you do get the feeling with this record, they have made a killer album. Each review has referred to it being their best yet. Of the 6 tracks I have heard, I’m really starting to believe the hype.
Doves hit the road tonight for their first tour since late 2005. They kick off 2009 at Warrington’s Parr Hall. A wonderful venue, I wish I was there. Best of luck to doves tonight, here’s to a great year of touring for the band. I will post up a setlist/review etc as it all becomes available.

The Fly has a got a track by track review of Kingdom of Rust. Click on the image above for the full article. A great read!
The NME have put up a Kingdom of Rust remix for download. Click here to grab the Still Going remix from the NME blog.

One more gem from Sub Sub’s past. Here is a track Sub Sub contributed to A Certain Ratio remix compilation that was released in 1994. Some Sub Sub EPs to come in the near future.
doves are appearing on the Radcliffe & Maconie BBC Radio 2 show. I will upload the audio from the interview/live session. However I will not be uploading any live tracks from the new album. If they do any of the old stuff I will upload that. I will upload the new stuff once the album is out there.
doves are also down to play 6 music’s the hub, March 27th.
Detroit ticket info: $19.50/$20 ALL AGES SHOW.
Doves have been confirmed to play the Irish Oxegen festival. Same weekend as T in the Park, where I also expect doves will perform. Just awaiting confirmation.
Thanks for all the feedback so far. Its been a great start, its only going to get busier as the album release draws nearer. Also the small matter of the tour starting next week.
Here’s a wee gem from the Sub Sub days. Released back in 1995 on the ‘From Manchester With Love.net’ compilation.
