As promised, here is a video download of the recent airing of doves performance of 10.03, that was broadcast on Last Call With Carson Daly a couple weeks back. The performance was taped at the Los Angeles Wiltern May 16th.
Once again, many many thanks to our friends at NorthWestTapers for capturing the HDTV source file.
Thanks to Alan, for sending the link for this interview Aeroplane did, wich has a wee mention of Brazil, which apparently doves didn’t like..
The Doves remix they were kind of upset because there was a really cool guitar that was doing the whole track. We never even tought about keeping the guitar we just skipped to vocal. At the end the remix was completely different than original. That is not what they expected at all.But that is what makes us exciting about remixing
Otherwise, not too much going on in doves world. Tickets for the Ritz Dyslexia Awareness benefit gig are now only a fiver. See the new flyer on the right for details. I have got a couple goodies lined up for tomorrow.
Absolute Radio are running a poll to find the song of the decade. 10 doves tracks are in the running. There Goes The Fear is currently number 35. Just do a search at Absolute radio’s Song Of The Decade website for all doves picks. The top 100 will be announced December 11th on the Christian O’Connell show.
Brent Kutzle of OneRepublic told aceshowbiz.com he wants to collaborate with doves..
ASB: Now that you are more established, do you still have a wish list to collaborate with other artists?
Brent Kutzle: I, personally, have quite a long list not really consisting of anyone too crazy, just artists and bands I’ve always been inspired by. I think doing some songs with a couple of U.K. bands, Doves and Travis would probably begin to fulfill that list
Personally, I haven’t heard any OneRepublic stuff. Any good?
Winter Hill b-side Brazil has been given the remix treatment by Aeroplane. Promo CD-Rs have been sent out to DJs, along with a press sheet stating the track will be released digitally December 7th. More as I have it.
Another one for the better late than never category. This time its a new video from the Carson Daly show. Last week the show aired 10.03 from the Los Angeles Wiltern show. Kingdom Of Rust from the same show was broadcast way back in May.
Better late than never eh? The Independent posted up thier review of the Elecetric Proms show late last week:
Doves released their fourth album, Kingdom of Rust, earlier this year, and it has been widely hailed their best yet. Its bittersweet lyrics and sweeping melodies, delivered in epic rock songs, are not far from their first album, Lost Souls, that won them a loyal fan base in 2000. That’s not to say their music hasn’t developed –it just hasn’t flirted with fads.
Until now it seems. For this performance, Doves were joined by the London Bulgarian Choir, whose eerily beautiful harmonies lifted Doves’ soaring music to new heights, right into the Roundhouse’s exposed rafters.
Doves opened with two serviceable tracks, but things took off when the LBC joined them on “Firesuite”, creating a dense, dissonant soundscape that added cinematic heft. When Doves frontman Jimi Goodwin announced “they’re giving me tingles”, he spoke for us all.
Andy & Jez will be DJing at a special Dyslexia Awareness benefit gig at the Manchester Ritz, November 27th. The gig also features a live set by Badly Drawn Boy & The Hayley Faye Band among others. Tickets priced £15 are now available to ticketline.
