An edited video of Doves performing at Maine Road, just after the last ever game back in 2003. The video was used on football focus, on which Jimi & Andy appeared on last week. Filmed by Matthew Norman of Figfilm & the Manchester District Music Archive.
Very cool video, check out the guy in the white tshirt at the end cacking himself when the firework goes off! Great footage. Only ever saw footage of this briefly on Sky Sports News back in the day.
Jimi & Andy were recently interviewed by Man City. They give their views on the current happenings at City, their first match at City & the new Umbro kit.

Doves are currently performing live at a rain sodden City of Manchester Stadium car park. Here’s some pictures taken minutes ago. Click on the images to see them in full size.
Apparently you will be able to hear doves on BBC Radio Manchester around 8:20am this morning (Wednesday). That’s from the PR guy at Man City, so they are most likely helping with the launch of the new kit. No live music, just talk, probably about the Live For City show.
Don’t forget if your a city fan, the new kit goes on sale at 9am. If you buy your kit tomorrow morning, you will be in with a chance to win tix for the free Live For City show.
The free concert at the city of Manchester stadium, will not take place inside the stadium, but in the East car park outside the stadium. Which is just as cool right? They wont ruin the grass on the pitch and all that. :)
Watch doves receive their free Umbro/City merch on the tour bus in NYC:
The big question now is, will they wear the t-shirts at the show?
If you follow Man City, then this one is for you! Doves are to play a free show at the City of Manchester Stadium to 5000 fans, confirmed by Man City’s official website this morning.
Live From City coming to CoMS
Doves have been confirmed for an exciting new concert in the City Of Manchester stadium. The band will play for 2,500 ticket holders and their best friend, with tickets only available to those who purchase the new Manchester City home kit.
Lifelong football fans, Doves were honoured to be asked to participate in the event. Singer Jimi Goodwin said in a statement “it is a great honour to be asked to headline this event. I’ve been a City supporter all my life, so playing to a crowd of 5,000 people with the City of Manchester Stadium in the background is going to be an amazing experience.”
Also due to perform is Mike Pickering, the DJ whose ‘Nude’ nights in the Hacienda helped launch the club. A major figure in the story of both the club and Factory Records, Pickering is also a life long Manchester City supporter.
Joining the bill are Twisted Wheel, who recently supported Oasis at their Heaton Park shows. Hotly tipped act Kid British is also scheduled to play, with indie newcomers The Answering Machine due to perform at the event.
In addition to this a host of young musical talent from from Manchester City’s Kickz programme are due to perform, with the famous MCFC Big Band also set to drop by.
City’s 2009-10 season home kit, which will be available exclusively from City’s stores and via www.mcfc.co.uk, can be pre ordered online from 9.00am on 1st July and the first 2,500 people to do so will have the chance to request a pair of free tickets to this one-off event. Those fans who pre order will receive their shirts on 17th July, enabling ticket winners to wear it to the gig that evening.
Not only are Umbro and MCFC giving away 5,000 tickets, they’re also offering the chance for one budding Manchester DJ to play live at the event through a competition online at www.mcfc.co.uk from 1st July. Xfm’s Gareth Brooks and Mike Pickering will choose the winner who will support these fantastic acts.
