Didn't see this posted anywhere else on here yet, so here it is. I'm not a fan of rap of any kind but I guess we'll see what actually happens.

Woo Hoo, YESSS!! Looking forward to that. I like Hip Hop and was even excited a couple of years ago when Jimi hinted that the first album was going to feature it. As much as I love doves my favorite piece on Odludek is the loose Hip Hop-style beat during the intro to Didsbury Girl and I wish more of the album could have sounded like that. Jimi's always been a fan of Hip Hop and it's clear to see from some other elements present on the album, stuttered break beats, etc. The Ghost Of the Empties for example. It's going to be really interesting to see what this will sound like. I'm excited. It's good that he's willing to try something completely different and also go back to his initial plan for Odludek. Good for him. I'd love to see him get people like Jay-Z on board like Coldplay did.

Thanks for sharing.

The signs were there a long time ago surprisingly...just dug up this old doves interview with Epilogue Magazine from way back in '09 just after the KOR release, although note that the rapper's name is spelt incorrectly, his name is "Edan".....

"I saw that you are a big Stones Throw fan; do you try and bring some hip-hop influence into your songs?

For me personally, when we were making the record, we listened to things like that, and Eden, Beauty and the Beat, that’s a great record. Whether or not it crept into our stuff, it creeps into my own demos and things that didn’t make the record. That is something I will pursue personally, that crazy collage of different styles"

It's interesting. Kaiser Chiefs once had rapping on one of their songs, it was appalling. Mind you so was most of their music by album three :/
It's the best thing for you darlin'.
